He lives down the road so does them on his way home , at a few hours notice . And yes ,you have to be vigilant and watch the behav...

Yes Vicki ---constant heat coil like an electric blanket on a bed , with a similar switch in the cord .Doesn't get too hot ,in fact its just warm , but certainly improves the temps of my seedling trays !!! Archie the dog just sits now and wonders whats going on!!!

Re: I'm back home , Mum !!

I think I was alluding to a badly pronounced "sicko" as my friends accuse me of being --" YOO BL....Y SICKO !" or a secondhand dealer which I've been most of my life ---seco --secondhand . My grandad nicknamed me Tippy .We used to go to the tip near them and even as a child I'd b...

Re: Cows & AI

I've had about 30 calves born here through AI and wouldn't have it any other way .No truculent bulls to put up with ,I get the best genetics and I'm not feeding a 1000kg animal for 25ml of semen a few times a year .The economics don't add up if you're going to eat them .Different matter if you're bu...

Re: Pete’s - Liquid Manure Recipe (fact sheet)

I've got buckets of weed tea brewing ,from a recipe on GA , made up from invasive weed and water .Stinks to high heaven but should be an excellent tonic in a week or so more brew time .The idea was to get rid of couch grass and the like without composting which doesn't work well with them .You drain...

You can go a step further than pollard and buy Millrun from ag stores ,which is pollard and bran run through a hammer mill to combine them . I make a mash using the millrun . Cook two cups of oats in 5 cups of water ,then add two cups millrun ,shell gritt or ground up egg shells ,some minced garlic ...

Re: Mobile Greenhouses

I was at Harris Scarfe three weeks ago and they had heated dog cushions about 3 feet square and 6 inches high with a lambswool cover .Archie the dog doesn't think much of it ,prefers the couch when he's in watching the TV ,so it now has trays of seedlings sitting on it !! Took the zipped lambswool o...

Re: Did you all know We Are Trendsetters?

I've never thought of myself as a trendsetter --quite like that idea !! I thought I was a reactionary batling the thoughts and processes of my parents and their generation ,trying to recreate what my grandparents did .My parents left the land for what they declared were better opportunites in employ...
