Activists set up a Biohazard Research Center in a canola fieldGreenpeace has found commercial beehives contaminated with genetically engineered (GE) canola pollen. Yesterday we set up a mobile “Biohazard Research Centre” at a GE canola field situated just metres from beehives in Southern Victoria. People buying honey from this hive will be eating GE contaminated food without knowing it, and before it has been properly assessed as safe to eat. Join the calls for Federal Health Minister, Nicola Roxon, to use her powers to properly assess the health and environmental risks of GE crops.

Have written a very long letter! We're not too far from Geelong and there are a lot of canola fields around. Its a worry as we were thinking of getting a beehive into our property. Damn monsanto>............

I wrote a long one too... I just for the life of me understand our pollies at all, it's all about winning elections.

Hayley, a saw written by someone that within a certain radus of GE Canola that bees were disappearing, and strangely enough at the time Paul was having trouble pollinating his zuchinni and pumpkin and was within the radius... it may even be in an old thread here.

It makes me mad too.

I'm re-reading these old threads and the tale is true .We have had a massive increase in the amount of GE canola planted around here this year .And I do have trouble pollinating some things .I did have several rogue hives of Eoropean honey bees in hollow Grey Box trees that have now disappeared for whatever reason ,very worrying .

But ,I have had native bees back for the first time in ten years . We have quite a bit of cape weed in our lawn that has spread from an errant neighbour ,and its full of native bees when the flowers are out ,so are the gazzinias .I'm still trying to track them and hope they are here on my place as many small native herbage plants need the smaller bees to pollinate them .

As for Monsanto ,unfortunately for us ,their chairman , board members and shareholders have already mutated into greedy swill-drinking pigs !!! -and we wallow in their faeces !!
