Animals Australia says:
In a historic move, Tasmania’s Animal Welfare Advisory Committee (AWAC) recently recommended that Tasmania become the first state to ban the use of pregnant ‘sow stalls’ on the basis of unacceptable cruelty. Already banned in the U.K. and in parts of Europe, the ‘sow stall’ is a tiny metal and concrete crate which can confine a mother pig so restrictively that she cannot even turn around — for months on end.
The decision to accept the recommendation, and in turn free thousands of innocent animals from the misery of sow stalls, now rests with one man: Primary Industries Minister Bryan Green.

Minister Green needs to be reminded that all caring Australians are appalled by animal cruelty and will enthusiastically support a ban on cruel sow stalls. Please e-mail your support for a ban to: bryan.green@parliament.tas.gov.au
