Need help - Fowlers Vacola Electric Preserving Kit

Postby Guylian » Tue Feb 21, 2012 4:03 pm

Hi, I'm hoping a fellow owner of a current model (plastic) Fowlers Vacola Electric Preserving Kit can help me.

I need to know the measurements of the metal plate that goes inside the preserving kit in able to replicate one. We have acquired a second-hand current model kit that still works but was missing a lid and the plate. I bought a replacement lid at Fowlers, but they don't sell the plate, and we thought they'd be a little miffed if we broke out a tape measure in the store and started measuring up the plate. Having seen it we know we can make one as long as we have the correct measurements - width of the piece of metal itself included please.

Hi,
I dug mine out (well when you've raised everything for an impending flood, its more like "I lifted it down")...

The plate is 2mm thick aluminium plate (its aluminium so it doesn't go rusty over time... perhaps an old fashioned biscuit tray?
If you think of a square with dimensions
237mm x 238 mm then if you take the corner a triangle off each corner... so that the same sides measure 172mm and 185mm

I know the above dimensions sound "exact" but the plate is a really tight fit, and a few mm shorter would be okay considering the size of the ledge the plate rest on.

If my dimensions are unclear I can take a picture and upload it for you.

Thank Heidi,

I totally forgot to do this, I have to do some things straight away at the moment or they just slip through the cracks!

Nice to see you on, how's Angus going at school?

Angus is going brilliantly under saddle and have been long reining him through obstacles and on the slide. I've also got a second Clydesdale staying here. Broken in at the same time as Angus, and am working her for her owners. Busy busy busy!

Got a long list of shows lined up, just need the weather to improve and the courage to go! Gatton definitely in May!
