Boiling Water Bath... I BWB for fruit and tomato products but not when there's plenty of vinegar, say in Chutney or pickled things. Some people do BWB for pickled things these days (usually about five mins) and many of us will argue to and fro about the benefits and reasons etc. There's also some who wave the fear flag, but understanding and reading as much as possible about preserving means you choose the safest way and one that suits you.
Personally if you only have a few different sized bottles I'd just order a box of new mason ones as they come with lids, bands and order a pkt of plastic screw tops lids with them.
I did get small amounts of recycled jar lids some time back but found I really used about two sized jars, so hence my disposing of vacola jars as well as all those jars washed, labels removed and saved for nothing.
Once finding the size jar you like then it's far cheaper to get a large amount of the size lid, and if you have lids for a few years it's worth it, or co-opt with someone on the forum?
Here's some links to lids and jars.http://www.seco.com.au/links.php
Let me know how you go, I can think about co-opting but need to think carefully at the moment now we're sorting out to sell... oh how I hate moving.
